As most of you know by now, the wedding happened!  (Protip: Weddings are hard work and take lots of time, as evidenced by our lack up updates before and after the wedding.)  We will be posting pictures from our photographer soon, but in the meantime, please check out some pictures from friends and samples from our photographer.  Enjoy!

As a sequel to last week’s update of The City page (not like I’m trying to write a series here, but it sounds good), The Trip page has now been updated as well.  This includes information on hotels, border crossing, airports and Toronto public transportation.

The best deals on hotels are often found on travel websites (links to some of these are provided on the page as well).  There is no shortage of hotels or independent inns in Toronto, so you may prefer to find another place that suits your location/parking/children/pricing needs.  Our contact information is listed at the bottom of the page if you would like more detailed information about neighborhoods or activities.

It has recently come to our attention that wedding registries are very un-diplomatic.  Which is to say, they are very uncooperative if one has givers and receivers in more than one country (or maybe they’re just trying to encourage domestic-only trade in this troubled economy…hmm).

Of course, we’re delighted just to have family, friends, hugs, and laughter.    We’ve received several inquiries on this matter, though, so we have now tinkered with The Registry page in an attempt to make it a little more internationally-minded.

Which means, of course, we are now registered for toques and cowboy hats alike!

For any out-of-towners wondering why on earth you should come to Toronto, I have updated The City page.  If you’re American, perhaps you will find something worth crossing the border for, and if you’re a non-Torontonian Canuck, you’ll see that Toronto just really is that cool.  Hah!

I will soon (tomorrow, hopefully) update details on The Wedding page to include local maps and directions to the church, via public transit and privately owned/rented vehicle.  In the meantime, you can check out all the other cool stuff there is to do!

Who knows…there’s a very good chance you’ll be so busy in Toronto that you won’t have time to attend any weddings!  I won’t be offended if that’s the case.  Just send us a postcard.

We have just about finished mailing out our invitations (which, I should point out, were designed and engineered entirely by John…quite the DIY craftsperson, he is), so the odds are good that you’ve landed at this website looking for more information. Here’s a brief rundown.

Our Invitations page serves as an intro to the site, and also explains the artwork (in case you were wondering why a punctuation mark is front and center on our invitations, among other things).

The Wedding page has links to details about the wedding, and also travel information. We are still working on updating this with hotels and the like. In the meantime, if you have questions about travel, accommodations, or activities in Toronto, feel free to e-mail rsvp@gorestein09.com and I would be delighted to give you some custom advice. Torontonians are known throughout Canada as being obnoxiously obsessed with our city, so I would LOVE to help you plan a visit here.

The Story page has, well, “our story” (how we met and decided to get hitched) and also our brief biographies. In case you don’t know who we are. Hmmm…

Katie and I have been quite busy the last few weeks, spending time in both Toronto and Chicago.  One of the results of our labor is that invitations are starting to trickle out.  Finally!  (I guess that falls squarely on my shoulders though, as I was in charge of invitations…)  Also worth noting is that updates to the website, including hotel suggestions and things to do in Toronto, will be forthcoming this weekend.  Fantastic!

Last month, John and I were able to indulge in an unprecedented delight– we spent two weekends in a row together!  After my Valentine’s jaunt in the Windy City, he took a turn and came up to Toronto the following weekend.  We had scheduled this time for “wedding work”, but managed to have some fun too.  Not the least of which was…engagement pictures!

Since we are both fans of photography and have very few pictures of us together (given the nature of long-distance…we do have lots of screenshots though…), the opportunity to have some pictures taken in a more “casual” setting was pretty exciting and fun (well, it was for me, anyway).  It also gave us an opportunity to spend some time with the lovely and talented Jessica Smith, who will be doing our wedding photography in June.  She was kind enough to tromp around the Harbourfront on a cloudy, windy, wintry day and make us look better than we normally do.

In what is fast becoming a Valentine’s Day tradition (2 years!) Katie and I spent the holiday in Chicago.  We accomplished wedding related tasks, acted like shameless tourists, and enjoyed good food.  Details (and pictures!) abound, after the link.  What are you waiting for?

The Story page has finally been updated with the rest of our story.  All that leaves is updating The City, The Trip, and The Registry pages.  And, oh yeah, deciding on decorations for the wedding and reception, sending out save the date cards, designing invitations, securing wedding clothing for me, deciding what to do a about a honeymoon and… and I better stop now before I get more overwhelmed.  Anyway, while I take care of those other things (well, Katie does most of the work) feel free to check out the updates to The Story and marvel at the pretty pictures and gallery/slideshow plug-in I added to the site.

Literally!  The image to the left is a photo of something wedding related. Any guesses as to what it might be?  I’ll give you a hint: I learned the term ruched while taking this photo.  Figure it out?  Well, be in suspense no longer!  Details on the the other side of the “continue reading” link.
